It’s not writing itself that I love. Honestly, this many years into my career, writing is still a chore. What I do find wildly satisfying is what writing can accomplish. The context, inspiration and pleasure that a good story can provide.
Information behind an ingredient or a recipe provides the reader a much richer appreciation of the subject matter at hand. Vivid detail about a destination or a culinary technique inspires an adventure on the road or in the kitchen. Sharing conversations I’ve had with chefs, scientists, entrepreneurs, nutritionists, historians, oyster farmers, distillers and others offers unique, personal perspectives on the culinary world.
This is what I’ve done for over twenty-five years.
